The surrounding area of Fisher Island offers some of the world’s most exotic locations with equally amazing food. The Miami and Miami Beach restaurants are conveniently accessible once you take the ferry off Fisher Island. Those staying in a short term rental or annual rental on Fisher Island will have endless locations to explore delicious and authentic cuisine. There’s everything from Cuban food, seafood, middle eastern and more.

Here are a few spots that are popular amongst locals.

Biscayne Tavern

Visitors to Fisher Island will enjoy the chance to eat amazing seafood close to where they stay, when they dine at Biscayne Tavern. This upscale restaurant is a staple in the local food scene. Like any decent beach restaurant Biscayne Bay has an impressive seafood selection. The spicy shrimp packs just enough heat while the tuna tartare appeals to the sophisticated pallet. These are just the appetizers, and the main courses are equally impressive. A 12 ounce New York style steak can satisfy the largest appetite, and the blackened Florida Mahi is a local favorite. Biscayne Tavern embodies the formal essence of Miami Beach, but there are less sophisticated eateries in the area.

Enrequeta’s

For a true taste of the local Cuban cuisine people patronize Enrequeta’s sandwich shop. This small establishment has a very unassuming storefront, and a simple interior decor. However, everything served here is first prepared with love and the perfect seasonings. Enrequata’s also serves hot soups to accompany their excellent sandwiches.

This shop is a part of Miami’s fabric, but there’s one local eatery that has been serving up Floridians for more than 100 years…

Joe’s Stone Crab

Joe’s Stone Crab is of course known for their crab dishes. They also have an amazing key lime pie recipe, made from local limes. The locals know and love Joe’s – it’s been in business for more than a century. Joe Weiss originally established ‘Joe’s’ in 1913, and locals have been enjoying stone crab ever since. Joe’s also serves fresh fish from the area such as mahi, and tilapia.

Clearly staying on Fisher Island is perfect for enjoying luxury living and privacy, but the fact that it’s a few minutes from Miami’s best restaurants is the best of both worlds.
